What is the influence of US mortgage rate?

2021According to Canadian Mortgage Trends, US mortgage rate and ours usually move together over the long-run. When US mortgage rate goes up, soon ours will follow. It is because our bond yield and GDP are very closely correlated.
US 30-year fixed mortgage rate just went up 4 basis points. It is not much and rate is still at historical low. Rate fluctuation is also common. However, with bond yield trending upward for the past few months, it might be sign that we are getting pretty close to the bottom of mortgage rate.
