I’m Selamawit Yonas, but everyone calls me Selam.

I was born in Addis Ababa, raised in Calgary, and today I call Kelowna home, where I live with my husband and our lively toddler who keeps us on our toes and fills our home with joy. Before I ever stepped into the mortgage world, I was the one in my community always asking the financial questions no one else wanted to, and helping others find clarity where things felt confusing.

That curiosity turned into a passion: showing people how to use their mortgage as more than just a loan, but as a strategy, a way to build stability, grow wealth, and move forward with confidence.

I started My Mortgage Power because I saw a gap. So many families were making huge financial decisions without being given the tools or insight to fully understand them. I wanted to change that, to offer more than just approvals. I wanted to offer perspective, strategy, and peace of mind.
